Welcome Sarees

We are down on Morland Road in Mumbai Central. Specifically, Welcome Sarees is on Gela Bhai Street. If you know Mumbai, you know how busy it gets around here. It’s always crowded and there’s never a quiet moment. Our shop is tucked away in the middle of all that action. It’s not a massive place, but we pack a lot into it. We have sarees stacked all the way to the ceiling in some parts. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes, especially when a new shipment arrives and we haven't cleared the old ones yet. We’ve been on this street for years and have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. The street noise is just part of the background for us now. We open up early and usually stay late because there’s always something that needs folding or sorting. We don't have a fancy display window or anything like that. People just walk in off the street because they’re passing by on their way somewhere else. We spend our days chatting with whoever comes in and making sure the shelves aren't too messy. It’s a lot of physical work, standing on our feet and moving heavy bundles around. It’s just a regular local business trying to keep up with the pace of Mumbai. We don't talk about missions or visions; we just talk about what needs to be done before we go home.
