Modern Traders

Modern Traders has been operating out of 153 Mandvi Linking Road for as long as I can remember. Being in Masjid Bunder means it's always crowded and noisy, but that's just how the neighborhood is. Our shop isn't much to look at from the outside, but it’s packed with stuff from floor to ceiling. We spend a lot of our time moving boxes around and checking the inventory. It’s a lot of manual work, and by the end of the day, we’re usually pretty tired. The street outside is always blocked with trucks and handcarts, so getting deliveries in and out is always a bit of a puzzle. We don't have a website that works properly or any of those fancy modern things. We just talk to our customers face-to-face or over the phone. Most of the people who come here have been buying from us for years. They know exactly where to find us in the middle of all the chaos. It gets really hot in the summer months, especially with all the goods stacked up, but we just keep the fans going and keep moving. It’s a messy business, but it keeps us busy. We don't bother with suits or ties here. It's just old shirts and comfortable shoes because there’s always something to lift or carry. That’s just life at Masjid Bunder.
