My place is located at Jyoti Plaza, which is right in M K Colony near the Kandivali West railway station. Being so close to the station means there is a constant stream of people walking past the door from early morning until the last train at night. It is a very lively spot to be in. The office is number 2 on the ground floor, so people often pop in just to ask for directions or to see what we do. It’s a small space, mostly filled with files and a few chairs for visitors. The walls are a bit plain, but I’ve got a small plant in the corner that is trying its best to grow. I handle a lot of different things here, mostly paperwork and helping people with their local requirements. It’s not a corporate setup at all. It’s just me and sometimes an assistant working through the daily list of things to do. The noise from the station platforms is always there in the background, like a hum that you eventually stop hearing. Sometimes the rains make the entrance a bit slippery, so we have to put down some old sacks to keep people from falling. I’ve been in this plaza for a while and I know the other shopkeepers around here pretty well. It’s a decent place to work, even if it gets a bit crowded during the rush hour.
