Raj Corporation

Our place is in the Nagdevi Market area, specifically near Masjid Bandar. If you have ever been to Nagdevi, you know it’s the heart of the hardware trade. Raj Corporation is tucked away in one of those busy streets where there are handcarts and trucks moving all the time. The air always smells a bit like metal and oil. Our shop or office, whatever you want to call it, is full of boxes. We deal with a lot of heavy items, so there is always someone lifting something or shifting crates around to find a specific part. It’s a loud place to work, but we like the energy of the market. We don't have any air conditioning, just some old ceiling fans that whistle while they spin. Most of our day is spent talking to customers who are looking for very specific technical items. We have to know where everything is kept, which isn't easy because the shelves are packed to the ceiling. Sometimes we have to climb up a ladder just to see what’s at the back. It is hard work and your hands get dirty pretty quickly. We don't wear uniforms or anything, just regular clothes that we don't mind getting a bit of grease on. It’s just a standard business in a very old part of the city. We show up early, handle the orders, and leave when the market shuts down. It is a grind, but it is how we make our living.
