M T S Stores is tucked away in the A Wing of Ajanta Shopping Centre, right there on S V Road. Being in unit 5A means we see a lot of people passing by every day. The shopping centre is an old landmark, and it has that specific smell of concrete and floor cleaner. Our shop isn't very large, so we have to be clever about where we put things. Every inch of shelf space is used up. We start our day by rolling up the shutters and dusting off the counters. S V Road is always buzzing with cars and rickshaws, so there’s a constant hum in the background. We get all sorts of customers coming through. Some are regulars who live nearby and just pop in for a quick chat, while others are just passing through the mall. We spend a lot of time updating our ledgers and checking what needs to be restocked for the next week. It’s a lot of standing around and waiting for the next rush, then a lot of running around once it hits. The lighting in the corridor isn't the best, but our shop is bright enough. We don't use any fancy systems, just the old-fashioned way of doing things. It’s a small operation, but it keeps us on our feet. We usually grab a vada pav from the stall outside when we get a break. It’s a simple life running a shop here.
