Manik Leather Creations

Manik Leather Creations is located right in the heart of Dharavi, at 66/67 Gold Feild Plaza. If you know this area, you know it’s famous for leather work, and we are right in the middle of it all. We spend our days working with different types of leather, making various items that people need. It’s a dusty, busy kind of job, but we’ve been doing it for a long time. The plaza is always full of activity, with people coming and going at all hours. We have a couple of units here where we do the actual cutting and sewing. It’s not a fancy showroom by any means. It’s a workshop first and foremost. We focus on the craft itself rather than how the office looks. Most of the people working here have been with us for years. We know the smell of tanned hides and the sound of the machines better than anything else. Manik Leather Creations started small and we’ve kept it that way mostly. We don’t have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just rely on the work we do to keep the business going. Being in Dharavi means we are close to our suppliers and other craftsmen, which makes things easier for us. We just want to keep making leather goods that last for people. It’s simple work, and it's what we've been doing for years. It’s noisy and hot sometimes, but we don't mind it much.
