Mahesh K Pardiwala is located up on the 3rd floor of the Nalanda Building, which is number 13 on Cumballa Hill. It’s an older building, so you have to walk up a bit, but it’s a nice quiet spot once you get inside. Cumballa Hill is a busy part of town, but being on the third floor helps tuck us away from the noise of the street below. I’ve been working out of this space for quite a while now, and it has become a second home. The office has a lot of old files and books scattered around, as it’s where I handle all my professional work and meetings. It is not a big corporate office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a regular room in an old South Mumbai building where things get done at a steady pace. Sometimes the lift in these old buildings can be a bit moody, so I tell people to be prepared for the stairs just in case. Nalanda Building has a lot of history, and you can feel it in the thick walls and the way the windows are set. I don’t have a big staff here, usually just me or maybe one other person helping out with the paperwork. People come here when they need specific advice or help with their accounts and legal things. It’s a straightforward setup where we sit down, have a glass of water, and talk through whatever needs to be sorted out. No big speeches or fancy presentations here, just real work.
