Mahalaxmi Sandwich Corner

You can find us at Mahalaxmi Sandwich Corner right in the middle of the M G Road Shoe Market. It is a very busy place with people constantly walking past and looking for deals on footwear. Because we are in the market, it is never really quiet. We have a small corner where we keep all our ingredients stacked up. The bread man comes early and drops off the crates. We use a lot of cheese and potatoes. The vegetable seller is just a few stalls down so we get everything from him. The counter is stainless steel and gets very hot in the sun. We have an old umbrella that provides a bit of shade but it doesn't do much when the wind picks up. Sometimes shoppers come in with so many bags they can't even find a place to stand. We just tell them to put their things on the side. The knife we use for the bread needs sharpening every few days because we go through so many loaves. It’s a lot of standing up and moving around. My back usually aches by the time we close up for the night. We don't have a fancy sign, just the name painted on a board. People find us anyway because of the smell of toasted bread. We just keep our heads down and keep making sandwiches until the market shuts.
