We are over here at Shop No. 8 in Monhafi Manzil. If you know the Madarpur area, you know Razat Road gets pretty crowded in the afternoons. Our spot is at 47/61, and we have been handling bags for a good while now. It isn't a fancy showroom or anything like that. Just a lot of stitch work and material everywhere. Usually, the shutters go up early because the morning light is easier for seeing the small details on the zippers and the linings. We spend most of the day sitting around the worktables. Sometimes the tea man comes by twice, sometimes thrice, depending on how hot it gets outside. The bags are stacked up on the wooden shelves we put in years ago. It’s a bit dusty because of the traffic on the main road, but we keep things moving. People walk in looking for something sturdy, and we show them what we have on the racks. There’s no big sign with lights, just the name Siddi Bags on the front. We deal with the local suppliers for most of the thread and the cloth. It’s loud out there with the rickshaws honking, but inside we just focus on the machines. Some days are slower than others. We don’t mind the quiet days because it gives us time to clean up the scraps from the floor. That’s pretty much how things go at Monhafi Manzil every week. We just keep at it and hope the machines don't give us too much trouble.
