The shop on Nati Seva Sadan Road has a certain smell to it. It’s that mix of ground materials and machine oil that sticks to your clothes by the end of the day. M T S Pulveriser isn't a quiet place to work. When the machines are running, you really have to raise your voice to be heard over the hum. We spend a lot of time just checking the settings and making sure the hoppers are full. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks from years of heavy use, but it holds up fine. We don't have a fancy reception area or anything like that. People usually just walk right in from the street and find us near the back where the work gets done. There’s a small desk in the corner piled with papers and old ledgers, mostly covered in a thin layer of dust. Lunch usually happens right there at the bench, or someone goes out to grab tea for everyone. Nati Seva Sadan Road gets busy during the middle of the day, so there’s always something to look at out the front door. We've been here long enough that we know most of the people walking by. It’s just a regular workspace where we handle whatever comes in. Some days are faster than others, but there is always a machine that needs cleaning or a bolt that needs tightening. It’s just what we do here day in and day out at number 16.
