Liberty General Store

We are located at 4 Poonawala Building in Naroda Parel and have been here for quite some time now. Most people around the neighborhood know us by now because we open early in the morning and stay open until late at night. The shop is small and sometimes feels a bit cramped when the new stock arrives on Tuesdays. We try to keep everything organized but with so many boxes of biscuits and packets of flour, things get messy quickly. My cousin usually sits at the counter while I handle the unloading from the rickshaws. The traffic in Parel is always loud, and you can hear the horns all day long inside the store. It’s just how it is in this part of town. We carry most of the basic household items that people run out of suddenly. A lot of the regular customers live right here in the building or just down the street. We don’t have any fancy displays or anything like that, just wooden shelves filled with whatever is in demand this month. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon and we just sit there with the door open to get some air. It’s a simple life running a store like this. We don’t plan for much, just making sure the pulses and rice are fresh and the milk doesn't spoil before it's sold. That’s our day every single day. We are just a local shop trying to keep things going.
