Lenin Pav Bhaji Center

Lenin Pav Bhaji Center is located at Marine Lines, on Harni Road 35/37. If you know that area, you know it can get pretty busy with people heading toward the water or coming back from work. We spend most of our time standing over the big iron tawa. It’s a loud sound, the scraping of the metal, but you get used to it after a while. The smell of the spices and the butter gets into everything, even my clothes at the end of the day. We don't have a lot of space, just enough for the cooking and a few people to wait. Marine Lines is a classic part of the city. Being on Harni Road means we see a lot of the same faces every day. We don't have a big corporate plan or anything. We just make the bhaji and toast the pav. Sometimes the tomatoes aren't as good one day, so we have to work a bit harder with the spices. It’s just how it goes with fresh food. We’ve been at 35/37 for a good bit now. Some people say the name is interesting, but we don't think about it much. We just want to get the food out hot. It’s a busy life, especially on the weekends. We just keep the fire going and try to keep up with the demand. It’s a basic shop for basic food.
