Our workspace is over in Andheri East, right in the Brahmin Mitra Mandal Society. We are at Gala No 21/22 B in the Giriraj Indus building. It’s a busy industrial area, so there’s always a lot of truck movement and noise outside our door. As Lalit Mistry Architect & Interior Designer, we split our time between the structural plans and picking out the right finishes for the inside. The office is usually a bit of a mess with tile samples and wood laminates scattered around. That’s just how we work. We aren't a polished showroom. We are a place where things get made and decided. Andheri East is a central spot, so we get clients from all over Mumbai, though many are local. We don't have a big corporate hierarchy here. It’s just us working through the daily grind of design and site management. Some days we are fighting with the plumbing layouts and other days we are just trying to get a paint color right. It’s all part of the job. Being in a gala in an industrial estate means we are close to the action. We deal with vendors and craftsmen all day long. We don't use any fancy marketing. We just show people what we’ve done before and let them decide. It’s a practical, hands-on way to run a business. We like the hustle of this part of town and the people we meet every day while working on these projects.
