L K Foods

L K Foods is located in Chembur, specifically over in SAI Baba Nagar along Shell Colony Rd. It’s a bit of a residential area, so we know a lot of the neighbors by name. The shop is tucked into a row of other small businesses. We’ve got shelves lining the walls and a heavy wooden counter that's been here since we opened. The ceiling is a bit low, and we have a small stool tucked in the corner where I sit when there aren't any customers. Most of the time, it’s quiet in the mornings, then picks up after school finishes. You can hear the trains from the nearby station if the wind is blowing the right way. We spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates on the packets and rearranging the jars. The floor is made of those old-fashioned tiles that are hard to get perfectly clean, but we scrub them every night anyway. Sometimes the streetlights outside don’t work, so it gets quite dark right in front of our door. We just turn on our own porch light to help people see. It’s a simple way to make a living. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment. Just the basics to keep things running. If you live in Shell Colony, you’ve probably walked past us a hundred times already. We keep a small notepad near the phone for people who call in to ask if we have specific items in stock before they walk over to buy something they need for dinner.
