King Tools Center

Our place is right on the ground floor in Masjid Bunder West, very close to the Nagdevi Market area. If you know Mumbai, you know this part of town is always packed with people carrying heavy loads and trucks trying to squeeze through tiny streets. The building is old and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy for that. We have been sitting in this shop for years, surrounded by all sorts of tools and hardware. It smells like oil and old metal in here, which is something you just get used to. We don't have a big team or fancy computers to track everything. Usually, it's just a couple of us moving boxes and writing things down in a ledger. The Nagdevi market is right there, so it’s always loud outside with horns and shouting. Sometimes it gets a bit overwhelming, but it’s home for us. We open the shutters early in the morning and stay until late evening most days. There is always something to fix or a shelf that needs straightening. We don't really have a big sign out front, just the name above the door. Most people find us because they’ve been coming here for a long time or someone told them where we are. It’s a gritty, honest way to spend the day, and we wouldn't know what else to do.
