Our office is tucked away in Flat No 12, over in the B Wing of Hill Crest. It’s on the 3rd Road in Bandra West, right across from where the Shivsagar Restaurant is. It’s a bit of an old building, but we like the feel of it. Being in Bandra means there is always something going on outside, which can be a bit distracting when we’re trying to focus on drawings and plans. The desks are usually covered in rolls of tracing paper, pens that have run out of ink, and half-empty cups of coffee. We spend a lot of time arguing over where a wall should go or how to fit everything into a small space. It’s not like those fancy studios you see on TV. It’s more of a lived-in space where we actually do the work. The elevators in the building can be a bit slow, so we often just take the stairs. Sometimes we go over to Shivsagar for a quick bite when the deadlines get tight. We’ve been practicing here for a while, and we’ve gotten used to the noise of the traffic and the local dogs barking. It’s just a small group of us trying to make sense of building designs. We don’t use a lot of big words to describe what we do; we just draw things up and hope they turn out well for the people we’re working for. It's mostly about getting the lines right on the paper every single day.
