You have to go down to the basement of Grace Plaza Shopping Center to find us. We’re at L/f 32, right on S. V. Road in Jogeshwari. It’s a bit of a squeeze down there, and the lighting is what you’d expect for a basement shop. But it’s a good spot because there’s always people walking around the mall. Being underground means we don’t see the sun much during the day, so we rely on those bright overhead tubes. The space is packed with different fabrics and finished pieces. There’s barely enough room to walk between the aisles sometimes. We’ve been here for quite a while now, and we know all the other shopkeepers in the plaza. We trade stories about the busy weekend crowds or the latest news on the road outside. Jogeshwari is a hectic place, and S. V. Road is always jammed with cars and rickshaws. You can hear the rumble of the traffic even from the basement. We don't have a website or a social media person. We just open up in the morning and wait for the customers to come down the stairs. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time folding things and putting them back on the shelves. It’s honest work, and we’re happy to be right in the middle of Jogeshwari with all the noise and the people. It’s where we’ve always belonged and where we’ll stay for a long time.
