Nagdevi Street is one of those places where you really feel the rush of the city. We are based at number 46, specifically in Room 12 on the second floor. It is a tight space, but it has been our home for a long time. The staircase is narrow and usually crowded with people carrying all sorts of hardware and heavy bags. We don’t have any fancy signs or a big lobby. It’s just a room where we keep our records and a few samples of what we handle. Every morning, we open up the shutters and get to work. Most of the day is spent answering the phone or talking to people who walk in off the street looking for something specific. It gets pretty hot during the summer, but we have a couple of fans that keep the air moving. We aren't trying to be some big corporation. We are just a small outfit trying to do our job properly. Sometimes we lose track of time when things get busy, and the tea from the stall downstairs is the only thing that keeps us going. We’ve known the other people in the building for years, so it feels like a little community. We just focus on the orders and making sure the math is right on the invoices. It’s a basic way of working, but it’s honest and it works for us.
