We are tucked away in Malad West, specifically in Room No 75 on the ground floor of the D Wing. It’s a humble little space where we spend most of our afternoons and evenings. You can usually hear the sound of ghungroos or music if you are walking nearby in the building. We teach dance here to whoever wants to learn, mostly kids from around the neighborhood. The ground floor makes it easy for parents to drop their children off without having to wait for an elevator. It gets a bit hot in the room when everyone is practicing hard, but we have the fans going. We have been in this part of Malad for quite a while now. The space is filled with mirrors and the floor is kept clear for the students. We don't have any big signs or fancy decorations, just a place to focus on the steps. Sometimes the classes run a bit late if we are trying to get a routine right. We see the same faces every week and it’s nice to see how they get better over time. It’s just a simple academy where the focus is on the rhythm and the movement. Everyone knows each other here, so it feels more like a small community than a school. We just open up the room, put on the music, and start the day’s practice. It’s a good way to spend the evening.
