Janta Chikki Shop

Janta Chikki Shop has been at Opera House 250 for a good while. If you know the Opera House area, you know it’s got a lot of history. Our shop is part of that old-school vibe. We sell chikki and other snacks that people have liked for generations. It’s not a modern cafe with fancy chairs. It’s a place where you come to get good, solid snacks. The smell of peanuts and jaggery is always around. We spend a lot of time packing things into boxes and bags. People come from all over the city to pick up a few packets. Sometimes it’s for themselves, and sometimes it’s to send to relatives far away. We don’t use any complicated machinery. A lot of what we do is still done the way it used to be. The counters are old, and the shelves have seen better days, but they hold the weight of the sweets just fine. We open early to get things ready before the main crowd arrives. Opera House is a busy place with lots of diamond workers and office folks. They stop by during their breaks. We don’t do much in the way of promotion. The taste of the chikki does the talking for us. It’s a simple business. We just want to keep the bins full and the customers happy with what they buy. We’ve been here at 250 for years and we don't plan on changing much. That’s Janta Chikki Shop.
