International Traders

If you walk down Pollock Street and find number 11, that’s where you’ll see International Traders. This part of the city is always crowded. There are people hauling goods on carts and sellers shouting everywhere. Our office is right in the thick of it. It’s an old building, the kind with thick walls and narrow stairs that feel like they've been there forever. Inside, it’s a bit quieter than the street, but you can still hear the honking and the crowds outside. We deal with a lot of different traders every day. Some of them have been coming to us for years. We sit at our desks, surrounded by old ledgers and samples of whatever we’re trading at the moment. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit, but it does its job when the heat gets bad in the afternoon. We drink a lot of tea here. The man who brings the tea knows exactly how everyone likes it. We don't have a big sign or a fancy entrance. You just have to know which door to go through. It’s a busy life, and there’s always something to be sorted out or a price to be checked. We don't use any fancy systems, just a lot of talk and hard work. By the time we leave at night, Pollock Street has calmed down a little, but not much. We’ll be back early tomorrow to start the whole thing over again and see what the day brings us.
