We operate out of B/37 in the Krishna Krupa building on Shankar Lane in Kandivali West. It’s a residential neighborhood mostly, so it’s a bit quieter than being on the main highway. International Trade Co. has been using this space for a long time. It’s a ground-floor spot, which makes it easier for loading and unloading stuff without having to use a lift. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with all the boxes and files we have stored. We don’t have fancy furniture; most of it is stuff we’ve had since we started. The walls are covered in calendars and notes we’ve scribbled to ourselves. We have a small window that looks out onto the side alley, but we don’t get much light. Most of our work involves checking shipments and making sure the paperwork is in order. We know the neighbors in the building, and sometimes we stop to chat by the gate. It’s a very local feel here. We usually have a fan running because it gets quite stuffy in the afternoons. Sometimes we get distracted by the sounds of the kids playing outside or the vegetable vendors calling out. It’s not a high-pressure corporate environment. We just do our work, talk to our contacts, and head home when the day is done. It’s a simple setup that has worked for us for years.
