Indrani Designer Sarees

You can find us at No. 280 Kalbadevi Road. We are right opposite the Adarsh Hotel, which makes it easy for people to find us since that hotel is such a big landmark. Kalbadevi is always busy and loud, so our shop feels like a little break from all that noise outside. We mostly have sarees here, all different kinds and fabrics. Some have lots of heavy work on them and others are just plain cotton. I have been working with sarees for a long time now. My father started things like this decades ago and I just kept the shop going. It isn't modern or anything, it has old wooden shelves and we still use a lot of the same furniture from years ago. It feels more comfortable that way to me. When people come in, they usually sit down on the floor or the stools and we pull things out from the cupboards to show them. It takes time to look through everything. I don't like to rush anyone when they are choosing. Sometimes we have tea while we talk about the fabric and the prices. The traffic on Kalbadevi Road can be a nightmare sometimes, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home, but we stay open late enough for people to drop by after the rush. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the stock well. It is a simple way to live.
