I V Y Grande Wine Cafe & Bistro

Things start slow at I V Y Grande Wine Cafe & Bistro on Narayan Dhuru Street 6. Khar West is a busy place, but early in the afternoon, it is usually just us getting the chairs straightened out. We spend a lot of time wiping down the tables and making sure the glasses are clean. The wine bottles are kept on the racks, and sometimes I have to go through them just to make sure everything is where it should be. The street outside is always noisy with cars and people shouting, but we try to keep it a bit more relaxed inside. We don't have any big corporate rules here. It's just a few of us working together to keep the bistro running. The kitchen staff starts their prep around the same time the sun hits the front window. We often have to fix the wobbly legs on the wooden chairs or change a lightbulb that flickered out the night before. It’s a lot of small tasks that fill up the day before the first person walks in. Sometimes we sit in the back and have our own meal before the rush starts. Khar has changed a lot, but this street feels the same most days. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in. It’s mostly about making sure there is enough ice and that the menus aren't too stained from coffee or wine spills from the previous evening's service.
