Great World Chinese

You can find us in Khar West, right on Dr Ambedkar Road. We are pretty close to the Ambedkar Statue and just across from the Zade Garden building. Mumbai is a city that loves its Chinese food, and we’ve been doing our version of it for a long time. It’s a small place, nothing too fancy. We have a few tables, but a lot of people just order and take it home. The kitchen is always loud with the sound of woks and high flames. We do the kind of Indo-Chinese dishes that people around here grew up eating. It’s spicy, salty, and hits the spot when you're hungry. We don't use any complicated plating or strange ingredients. It’s just honest cooking for the neighborhood. The area here in Khar is always moving, and we move with it. Some nights the phone doesn't stop ringing for deliveries and the sidewalk gets crowded. Other nights, it's just a few locals sitting and chatting over their soup under the ceiling fan. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot, but we’ve stayed right here by the garden. It’s not a glamorous job, cleaning up at midnight and starting over at ten the next morning, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to reinvent anything. We just want to make sure when someone buys a plate of noodles from Great World Chinese, they feel like they got their money's worth and leave with a full stomach.
