About Gracenote Guitar Academy – Education in Mumbai
We run Gracenote Guitar Academy out of a small space here at Wadala 18/4. It’s not a huge music school with a stage or anything like that, just a room where we keep the guitars and some stools. Most afternoons you can hear the sound of someone trying to get their scales right or just tuning up their strings. Wadala is a busy place, and having a little corner for music makes the day feel a bit better. We started this because we liked playing, and it turned into a daily routine. There’s always a few guitar cases leaning against the wall and some old sheet music lying around the table. It’s a bit cramped when more than two people are in here, but we don’t mind the close quarters. We spend a lot of time talking about different songs and why certain chords are so hard to reach. It’s a quiet enough spot once you step inside and shut the door to the street noise outside. We aren't looking to become some massive institution, we just like the way it feels to have a guitar in our hands. Some days are slow, and we just sit and play for ourselves. Other days it’s back-to-back people coming in from the neighborhood. It’s a simple life, honestly. We just open up the door, tune the instruments, and wait for whoever is coming by that day. That’s just how Gracenote works for us.
