We are located at C-27 in Goregaon West. The building is called Dev Chaya. It’s a well-known spot in the area, mainly because we are so close to the Crawford Market. Not the one in South Mumbai, but the local market here. It’s always buzzing with people buying vegetables and household items. The noise from the market spills over into our street, so it’s never truly quiet. I like the noise, though. It makes me feel like I’m in the middle of everything. Our office is on the ground floor, which makes it easy for people to just drop by. It’s not a large space, but we’ve managed to fit in everything we need. There are a few old wooden desks and some cupboards that have been here since the beginning. Goregaon West is a mix of old houses and new towers. You see a bit of everything here. I’ve spent most of my life in this part of the city, so I know the streets pretty well. Most of the people who come to see us at Dev Chaya are locals. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just talk to people and help them with what they need. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside on the steps and wait for it to come back. It’s just the way things are here.
