Our office is at 26 Ratan Sadan in Mumbai. It’s one of those classic buildings that has been around for quite a while, and it fits the way we work. We don't have a big fancy lobby or a bunch of assistants. Usually, it's just us surrounded by stacks of files and drawing sets. The space is a bit cramped because we keep everything—old plans, new sketches, and samples of tiles and stone. Working in Mumbai means you have to be very careful with every square inch, and we apply that same logic to our designs. We spend most of our time at our desks, but we’re also out and about quite a bit, checking on sites and meeting with suppliers. The atmosphere in Ratan Sadan is pretty quiet, which is a nice break from the hectic city streets outside. We don't really do the promotional stuff. People usually find us by word of mouth or by just walking past. We focus on the everyday realities of architecture, like making sure the drainage is planned correctly and the rooms have enough light. It’s about being practical and putting in the hours. There are days when the workload feels heavy, but we just take it one drawing at a time. It’s an honest way to make a living, and we’ve grown used to the rhythm of this office and the city around it.
