Golden Trading

Golden Trading is right in the middle of the APMC vegetable market, specifically at V-1189. If you know the market, you know it starts very early in the morning, long before the sun even comes up. We are usually here when it’s still dark, getting things ready for the day's trade. The air always smells like onions, potatoes, and wet earth. It’s a very loud place with people shouting prices and trucks backing up and down the narrow lanes. Our space is basically just a spot to store the goods and keep our records. It’s not comfortable or clean, but it’s where the work happens. We deal with bulk vegetables and it’s a lot of heavy lifting. My back usually aches by noon, but that’s just the job. We see the same faces every day, the same loaders and the same buyers. There is a lot of haggling and pointing, and everything moves very fast. If you’re not paying attention, you’ll get knocked over by a cart. We don't use any fancy technology here, just our notebooks and a basic phone to talk to suppliers. We try to get the best produce we can find that day and move it along to the next person. It’s a grind, and the floor is always a bit muddy from the crushed greens and rain, but it’s how we’ve always done it. We head home when most people are just finishing their lunch.
