We are based in the A.P.M.C Fruit Market in Sector-19, Vashi. Our units are G-311 and 312. Working with fresh produce at Raien Fresh Produce Pvt. Ltd. means our schedule is pretty much dictated by the sun and the arrival of trucks. The market in Vashi is huge and can be very confusing if you aren’t used to it. It’s always wet, noisy, and full of people moving quickly. We spend our mornings checking the state of the fruits and vegetables that come in. It’s a very hands-on job. You can’t really do this from a desk. We are usually wearing boots and carrying crates around. Our office is just a small space tucked away where we can handle the billing and the phone calls. There’s a lot of shouting and haggling in the market, which is just part of the daily life here. We deal with farmers from all over and try to get the produce out to the shops as fast as possible so it stays fresh. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s important. We don’t have a fancy website or a glossy brochure. We just rely on how the produce looks when it comes off the trucks. If you come by G-311, you’ll see us working through the piles of boxes. It’s a lot of physical labor and early starts, but we’re used to it now.
