Fortune Foods is tucked away inside the Adhyaru Industrial Estate, specifically at unit 107. Being in the Sun Mill Compound area of Lower Parel means it’s always crowded outside with traffic and people rushing to work. Our space isn't huge, but we make the most of every square inch to get the orders sorted. We handle a lot of different food items here, mostly packing and getting things ready for transport. The mornings are usually the loudest because that is when the fresh stuff arrives and everyone is trying to move boxes around at the same time. We’ve got a small crew that knows where everything goes. Lower Parel has changed a lot lately with all the new buildings, but our little corner in the industrial estate still feels like the old days. It gets a bit dusty and the lift in the building is slow, so we end up using the stairs more than we’d like. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we have to check an order. Mostly, we are on our feet, checking bags and making sure the labels are on straight. It’s a lot of physical labor, but it keeps the day moving fast. Sometimes we grab tea from the stall downstairs when there’s a break in the deliveries. It’s just a regular food business doing what needs to be done to keep the supply moving through the city.
