Food King Restaurant

We’ve been over here on Golibar Road in Santacruz East for a good bit of time. People know us as Food King Restaurant, but it’s really just a family-run operation at the end of the day. The street outside is always noisy and full of traffic, so it’s a bit of a change when you step inside. We focus on getting the food out fast because most of our customers are in a hurry. They’re usually heading to work or coming back home tired. We don't have fancy decorations or anything like that. The chairs are just plain wood and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint soon. We just keep our heads down and work in the kitchen. This place has been around for years and not much has changed since the early days. We use the same pots and the same recipes we always have. It’s a lot of work, staying open late and getting everything ready every morning. Sometimes we run out of things if the market was short on vegetables. We just tell people what’s available. It’s honest work. We know most of the people who live around here. They come in for a quick bite and a chat. We’re just part of the neighborhood. Nothing more, nothing less. We don’t spend money on big signs or flyers. We just rely on people knowing where we are on Road 7 and coming back when they are hungry for a simple meal.
