Famous Tool Center

Famous Tool Center is located up on the 3rd floor at 59/60 Chowpatty. It’s an interesting spot to have a tool shop, being so close to the water and all the crowds that come to the beach. We’ve got a lot of different tools packed into our space. Because we are on the third floor, you have to walk up, but most of our regular customers don’t mind. They know we carry things that are hard to find elsewhere. The building itself is older and has a lot of character, though it can get a bit warm in the afternoons. We spend our days sorting through hardware, wrenches, and power tools. It’s a bit of a maze inside with all the shelves, but we know exactly where every bolt and screw is hidden. We don't really do much advertising. Most people hear about us from other workers or hobbyists in the area. We’ve been here at Chowpatty for years, and we’ve seen the area change quite a bit, but our shop stays pretty much the same. We like the grit and the smell of metal and oil. It’s a real working environment. We don't try to make the place look like a showroom. It’s a tool center, and it looks like one. We just try to be helpful when someone comes in with a problem they’re trying to fix.
