If you know Nagdevi Cross Lane, you know how tight it is. We are at number 96. It’s one of those spots in Mumbai where everything is piled high and the streets are always full of people moving stuff. We’ve been running Express Commercials Corporation from this little corner for a long time. It’s loud, it’s crowded, and there is always a tempo blocking the way, but that is just how business goes in this part of town. We handle commercial supplies, mostly just keeping track of what’s coming in and what’s going out. The office isn't much to look at, just a place to keep the books and take orders. Usually, there’s a lot of shouting back and forth with the loaders and the neighbors. We’ve got a lot of history in this lane. You get used to the smell of grease and the sound of metal hitting the floor. It’s not the kind of place you come for a quiet chat, that’s for sure. Most of our day is spent on the phone or checking through piles of paperwork. We just focus on getting the right items to the people who need them. It’s a busy life here at Nagdevi. We don’t have fancy furniture or a big lobby, just some desks and a lot of stock squeezed into every available inch of space. It’s a bit of a mess but we know where everything is kept.
