Dubey Paan Bhandar

If you find yourself near Church Gate, right on Veer Nariman Road, you will likely see Dubey Paan Bhandar. We are at number 82 on Nagin Marg. It’s a very busy spot because of the station nearby. Thousands of people walk past us every hour, especially during the morning and evening rush. Some stop for a minute, others are in a big hurry to catch their train. We see a lot of different faces every single day. The shop is small and packed with everything we need. It has been here quite a while. We do not do any advertising because people just know where we are. Dealing with the heat in Mumbai is a bit of a struggle sometimes, but being under the shade of the old buildings helps a bit. We start the day by cleaning up the counter and getting the ingredients ready. It gets quite hectic around 6 PM when the offices close. Sometimes we run out of things if the supply truck is late, but that’s just part of running a shop in this city. We are not trying to be anything special, just a place for people to get what they need. The noise from the trains and the cars is something you just stop hearing after a few weeks of working here. It is a decent life, keeping busy and talking to the commuters. We just keep going one day at a time.
