Our office is on the 6th floor of Devchand House. That’s in Worli, right on Dr Annie Besant Road. It’s part of the Shiv Sagar Estate. Being in Worli means we deal with a lot of traffic every day. The view from the sixth floor is alright, you can see some of the city and the other buildings in the estate. We’re right opposite the Nehru Centre. It’s a big office compared to some others, with lots of people working at their stations. We do design work, mostly for bigger spaces. It’s usually quite busy with meetings and people rushing around with rolls of paper. The air conditioning is always on because it gets hot in Mumbai. We’ve got a canteen area where we grab lunch. It’s a corporate building, but our actual workspace feels a bit more lived-in. There are pens and scales scattered on the desks. We spend a lot of time on computers. The elevators in Devchand House are always busy during the morning rush. Sometimes we have to wait a while. We’ve been here for years, so we know the other people in the building. It’s a central location, which makes it easier to get to sites in both south Mumbai and the suburbs. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It’s a long day usually, but that is the nature of the business in a place like this.
