Devkinandan B. Kanodia

Our office is located in the Steel Centre building, room 203, right in the Carnac Bunder area. If you know the neighborhood, you know it is always humming with activity. Devkinandan B. Kanodia has been part of this landscape for a good while. We deal with the logistics and the trading side of the steel business. It is a lot of phone calls and checking figures. The building itself has seen a lot of years go by. You walk up the stairs and you can smell the history of the trade here. We keep things pretty simple in the office. There are stacks of papers, a few landlines that never seem to stop ringing, and heavy chairs that have been around as long as the business has. We are not big on flashy decorations or modern gadgets. We just focus on getting the numbers right and making sure the shipments are moving. Some days are slower than others, but usually, there is a lot of back and forth with the transporters. Carnac Bunder is a tough place to navigate sometimes with all the trucks, but that is the nature of being near the port and the tracks. We take our tea breaks when we can and get back to the ledgers. It is a steady way to make a living, and we have stuck with it because it is what we know best. There are no frills here, just the daily grind of the steel market.
