Design Arts is based over in Malad East. We are in Flat No A/702, which is in Building No B3. It is a residential complex, so the vibe is very much like being at home. We have set up our workspace in the main living area of the flat. There are a few long tables where we have our drawing boards and computers set up. Since we are on the seventh floor, we get a good amount of natural light, which is helpful when we are looking at colors or small details on a plan. The building itself is quite standard for Malad East, with lots of families around. You can hear the sounds of television sets and people talking in the corridors. We try to keep things organized, but there are always rolls of paper and samples lying around everywhere. It is a bit messy, but that is just how we work. We don't have a fancy lobby or a board room; we just pull up a stool to the main table when we need to discuss something. Most of us live nearby, so the commute isn't too bad, though the walk from the station can be a bit of a sweat in the monsoon. It is a practical, low-key setup that allows us to focus on the projects we have in front of us without any of the corporate distractions you get in a regular office building.
