Shop No. 1 in the Sk Compound is where we spend most of our time. It’s on PM Road in the Kholtawadi area of Santacruz West. Santacruz is a busy part of Mumbai, as anyone who lives here will tell you. The Sk Compound has a lot of history, and it feels a bit like a maze if you aren't used to it. Our shop is right at the front, which is good for catching whatever breeze comes through. Ravechi Creation is a small operation. We don’t have a massive team or a huge showroom. It’s mostly just us surrounded by rolls of material and the tools of the trade. The dust from the road comes in sometimes, so we spend a lot of time cleaning surfaces. Kholtawadi has a very local, old-school feel to it. You know the neighbors and the guy who sells snacks at the corner. We’ve been here long enough that we don’t even notice the noise from the traffic anymore. It’s just the sound of the city. We open up the shutters in the morning and get straight to it. There’s always a list of things to do, and the days go by pretty fast. We don't have fancy lights or a big display window. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It's a simple shop in a busy neighborhood, and that’s fine by us, we just keep working away at it.
