Deodhars School Of Indian Music

Deodhars School Of Indian Music is located over by the Opera House Post Office. It is an old area with a lot of history. The school itself is not a grand building with a big stage. It is more of a humble space where we teach. You can find us by looking for the sign near the post office. Inside, it is mostly just rooms with mats on the floor and instruments leaning against the walls. We have sitars, tablas, and harmoniums scattered around. It is not a silent place. There is always someone practicing a scale or a rhythm somewhere in the building. The air usually smells a bit like old wood and incense. We do not have a big corporate office or a polished reception area. It is just us and the music. Students of all ages come through the doors. Some have been with us for years and others are just starting out. The Opera House area is busy and the streets can be narrow, so it is quite a contrast once you step inside and hear the music. We do not spend money on ads or fancy brochures. People find us because they want to learn. Our day is basically just a series of lessons and some tea in between. The floorboards creak a little when you walk, but it adds to the feel of the place. It is just a simple school for people who care about Indian music.
