Dasrath Sandwich Korner

You’ll find us in Borivali West, right around Sigma II 3 Road near Chandavarkara Road, which is a place where you see thousands of people every single day. Dasrath Sandwich Korner isn't one of those big fancy restaurants; it’s really just a small corner where we make sandwiches for whoever happens to stop by. I’ve been doing this for a long time now. The morning always starts with the bread delivery, and then we spend hours chopping up vegetables. Cucumbers, tomatoes, onions—the list never ends. Sometimes my hands get really tired from all that slicing, but you just get used to it after a few years of doing the same thing. People in Borivali are always in such a rush, heading to the station or coming home from work, so we have to be quick. If we take too long, they just move on to the next place. We use plenty of butter and chutney because that’s exactly what the local crowd likes. The spot is quite small and it gets very crowded in the evenings when the college students come out. It’s loud, there is constant traffic noise from the road, and occasionally we run out of cheese before the night is finally over. We aren't trying to change the world, just trying to make a decent sandwich that doesn't cost a lot. It’s honest work and I like talking to the regulars who stop by for a chat.
