Cherrys Chinese Fast Food

We set up Cherrys Chinese Fast Food at Carnac Bunder, right on Sola Road 41280. It’s a busy area near the docks, so there’s always a lot of heavy movement and noise. We have a couple of big woks that are almost always sitting on the high fire. The sound of the metal spatula hitting the pan is something you just get used to after a while. My hands have a few small burns from the hot oil splashes, but that’s just part of the daily job for us. We don't have a lot of indoor seating, just a few plastic stools on the pavement for people who want to eat right there. Most people just take their food in plastic containers and head back to their offices or homes. We use a lot of fresh garlic and ginger, so the whole corner of the street smells like it. Sometimes the rain comes down so hard during the monsoon that we have to pull the heavy plastic sheets down to keep the customers dry. It’s not a glamorous job, standing in the heat and the smoke for ten hours every single day. But it pays the bills and we know most of the people who come here by their names. We don't have a fancy menu with color photos, just a simple board with the prices written in white chalk. It’s just fast food, done the way we know how to do it.
