Chandulal & Co

Our place is on the ground floor, unit 2-A. If you know the Bhuleshwar Kabutarkhana, you can find us easily. The pigeons are always there, and the sound of them is just background noise to us now. Kalbadevi is a crowded area, so getting here takes some patience. We’ve been at this spot for many years. It's a small space, but we use every inch of it. The walls are lined with shelves that are probably older than I am. We don’t have a big team or anything, just a few of us who know the trade. Chandulal & Co isn’t a name you see on big billboards. We prefer it that way. Most people find us through word of mouth. The floor is concrete and we have a heavy wooden desk where we do all the paperwork. It’s not a quiet place, with the market right outside. We see all kinds of people every day. Some stop by just to say hello on their way to the temple. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. In the summer, it gets quite warm, but we're used to it. We just keep moving. There's no fancy mission statement here. We just open the shutters in the morning and do what needs to be done until it’s time to go home. It's a simple life. Sometimes we stay late to finish up the books, especially when it’s busy season and the orders are piling up on the table.
