You can find us at Shop No. 1 in Kamal Society, which is pretty close to where the old Shree Ram Mill is in Worli. It’s a small shop, but we pack a lot into it. We’ve been here for a while, watching the neighborhood change as the old mills turned into big towers. Our day usually starts early, opening up the shutters and setting things out. We deal with various supplies and general enterprise work, so our inventory changes depending on what’s in demand. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes around. The space is tight, so we have to be smart about where we put things. Sometimes it feels like we’re playing a game of Tetris with the crates. We have some regular customers who stop by just to chat for a minute before they head to work. Worli is a busy part of the city, and the traffic outside can be pretty loud, but inside the shop, we just focus on the orders. We don't have a computer system for everything; a lot of it is still written down in the big books. It works for us. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in Mumbai. We just want to make sure the people who come to Kamal Society get what they need without too much fuss. It’s simple work, and it keeps us busy from morning till night, just like any other local business in the city.
