Bhairavi Jaikishen

If you come to Juhu and look for the 6 Kings Apartment, you will find us on the ground floor. This is where Bhairavi Jaikishen is based, and it’s a space that is almost always filled with fabrics and thread. We have piles of different materials sitting on the tables, and sometimes they spill over onto the chairs. It’s a busy environment because there is always something being stitched or measured. Being on the ground floor means we can hear the birds in the garden outside and the occasional car pulling into the driveway. We don't have a big sign out front or a fancy lobby. It’s more like a workshop that happens to be in a home. We spend our afternoons looking at colors and trying to see how a certain cloth will hang. Sometimes a client comes in for a fitting and we have to move all the boxes just to find a place for them to stand. It is a bit chaotic, but we know where everything is. The light in Juhu is quite nice in the evenings, which helps when we are trying to see small details in the embroidery. We aren't a big factory; it’s just a small team of us working away on individual pieces. Sometimes we run out of chai or the needles break, but we just keep going. It’s a personal way of doing things, and we like the quiet of the apartment building ground floo.
