Baraco Electricals is right in the middle of the chaos on Princess Street. We are on the third floor of the Gold Mohar Building, at 3/14. If you’ve ever been to this part of Mumbai, you know how packed the streets are with people and shops selling every electrical part you could imagine. Our building is one of those old, sturdy ones that has seen a lot of history. The stairs are a bit narrow, and it can be a bit of a climb, but once you’re inside, it’s just wall-to-wall stock. We have boxes piled high because there is never enough space for everything. It’s not a fancy corporate office with a receptionist. You’ll usually find us at our desks surrounded by catalogs and order forms. The phone rings a lot, and there is always someone coming in to pick something up or ask a question about a specific component. We try to keep things moving as fast as we can. Being on Princess Street means we’re at the heart of the trade, so we see all kinds of people every day. It’s a bit messy and very busy, but that’s how we’ve always operated. We don’t have a mission statement on the wall; we just have a lot of work to do. It’s a traditional way of doing business where relationships matter more than anything else.
