Annapurnas Kitchen

This kitchen started because we wanted to cook the kind of food we eat at home. We are located on Hingwala Lane, just off the Pune Satara Road at 3/29/C. It’s a small space, and mostly it’s just the sound of pots clanking and the stove going. We aren't a big restaurant with waiters and menus in leather folders. It’s more of a place where you get what we’ve made for the day. My mother and I do most of the work ourselves, from buying the lentils to cleaning up at night. The Pune Satara Road area is always busy, but Hingwala Lane is a little quieter. We get a lot of people who live nearby or work in the small shops around here. They come because they’re tired of eating out and want something that feels a bit more like their own kitchen. We don't use any pre-made stuff or frozen ingredients. It takes longer that way, but it’s how we learned to cook. Sometimes we run out of things early if a lot of people show up at once. We don't have a website or anything like that, just our sign on the door. It’s just honest cooking for people who need a good meal during their day. We just keep our heads down and keep the stove burning until everything is served. It's a busy life but it feels right.
