About Noamzaki Dupatta House – Fashion & Trends in Mumbai
Our little shop is Shop No. 4, right near the McDonald's at Pearl Plaza. We are on the first floor, just opposite the Andheri West station side. It’s a very busy spot. You can hear the trains and the crowds all day long. We focus mostly on dupattas here. We have racks and racks of them in every color you can imagine. Sometimes it’s hard for us to even find the exact shade a customer wants because there are so many piles. The shop isn't very large, so we have to use every inch of wall space. It’s a bit cramped but it has a good energy. People often pop in after grabbing a bite to eat nearby. We see a lot of students and office workers looking for something to match their outfits. We don’t do any fancy marketing; most people just see our sign while they are walking to the station. Matching colors is the hardest part of the job, and we spend a lot of time holding fabrics up to the light to see if they really go together. The lighting in Pearl Plaza is okay, but we usually step out toward the corridor to get a better look at things. It’s a simple life running a dupatta stall. We open the shutters, hang up a few of the brightest pieces to catch the eye, and wait for the day to start. It’s been our routine for a long time now.
