We are based at Unilever House on B D Sawant Marg in the Chakala area. It’s a pretty well-known building in this part of Mumbai, and the traffic outside is almost always heavy. Every morning, hundreds of us come through the doors and head to our desks to start the day. The building is large, with lots of glass and open spaces, but once you’re at your workstation, it’s just like any other office. We spend a lot of time in meetings or on calls, talking about various products that end up in shops all over the country. The canteen is usually the place where we catch up on news or just take a break from the screens. Chakala is a busy business district, so there’s always something happening nearby, like new construction or people rushing to the metro. We don’t really think of it as a corporate headquarters when we’re just doing our daily tasks. It’s more about the routine of checking emails and making sure the supply chain is moving correctly. Sometimes the elevators are slow, or the air conditioning is a bit too cold, but that’s just life in a big office building. We have people from all over working here, and the atmosphere is generally just focused and busy. We try to keep things organized, though with so many departments, it can get a bit complicated. It’s a long day usually, but we’re right in the heart of Mumbai.
