We are based out of Vile Parle East, right inside Yeshwant Bhavan. Most people know the area because of the Adarsh Book Centre which is very close to us. It’s a good landmark to use because otherwise, people might miss our entrance. Being in Vile Parle means we are surrounded by a lot of history and old buildings, which we see every day when we walk to the office. The street is usually crowded with students and people heading to the station. We spend our mornings sorting through various property papers and checking on new listings that come across our desks. It’s not a very big office, but it fits what we need. We have a couple of old wooden desks and some cupboards full of records. Often, people just wander in because they saw our name while they were going to buy a book next door. We talk to them about what they are looking for and show them what we have on the books. There is no big sales pitch here. We just know the local streets and the people who live in them. Sometimes we go out for a vadapav during the lunch break because there are some great stalls right around the corner. It’s a busy life but we enjoy the rhythm of the neighborhood and seeing the same faces every day. It feels like we are part of the scenery here by now.
